Cabanes en Fête is a unique event where authenticity and the art of living "bien de chez nous" are promoted: the 45 typical and colourful cabins of the oyster port are open to the public for an unmissable day in December.
More than 20,000 visitors come to taste oysters directly from the producer and white wine from the Entre-Deux-Mers winegrowers: it is neither fresher nor more local. Original recipes with maritime influences are offered by chefs from nearby restaurants, while artists, painters and photographers showcase their art.
As you stroll along the quays, you will come across bandas and happy orchestras, with whom it is easy to sing traditional sea songs or songs from the Southwest known to all. From the quays, you can admire the parade of traditional rigging and the "vire-vire" of pinasses (traditional boat of the Basin).
In the afternoon, under the large, colourful tent, starred chefs introduce and taste recipes combined with wines from the Entre-Deux-Mers region to their audience.
And at nightfall, everyone looks up to the stars to admire the fireworks display, which closes this day full of colour and flavour.
